Dr. Susan J. Dean is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has maintained her independent practice since July 1999.

After completing her B.A. at Miami University, Dr. Dean attended the Medical College of Ohio, where she received her doctorate of medicine. Dr. Dean followed her graduate studies with an internship in general surgery, also at the Medical College of Ohio, before moving on to Stanford for her general surgery residency.  She then completed her post-graduate training with a Burn Fellowship and a residency in plastic surgery, both at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, as well as a Breast Fellowship at the Charlotte Plastic Surgery Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Dean has extensive professional experience within a number of clinical positions. At the MeritCare Medical Group in North Dakota, she held positions as a Clinical Instructor, Chairman of the Division of Plastic Surgery, and Director of the Burn Program. She acted as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Tennessee and Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Dean maintains memberships in the Harwell Wilson Surgical Society, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons, and she has collaborated on the following publications:
